Behind
the mask
Austrian painter Peter Fendi (1796-1842) was a respectable artist
of the old Viennese art school. He was no innovator, and his paintings
were viewed as harmonious and peaceful. Peter Fendi was also in
demand as a child portraitist. However, hedonistic dreams throbbed
behind the aristocratic mask, which can be seen in Fendi’s
series of particularly sexual acrobats. |
