Many erotic artists of the past chose to remain anonymous rather
than risk a jail sentence or worse. Despite this, many anonymous
pictures were distributed among aficionados, and the pictures
give us a deep insight into the sexuality of the past, when Oscar
Wilde was jailed for homosexuality but many visited homosexual
clubs. It was a time of sexual hypocrisy.
