Pin-up girls
The pin-up girl concept originates from 1941
when the word was first used in English. It describes a woman
beautiful enough to make men want to hang photos of her up on
their walls. Pin-up girls have played an important role in the
history of erotic photography, and the pin-up girl differs significantly
from the porno model in that her look is “decent”
and not lascivious. Pin-up girls were also quite a bit curvier,
representing a more womanly body type than the models of today.
Pamela Anderson was one of the most
famous pin-up girls of the 1990s and despite her relatively
slender build, her blonde hair and large breasts are classic
elements of the pin-up genre.
