A world at war

The soldierly need for female companionship led to more daring erotic expressions. The Australian illustrator Raphael Kirchner was among those who fed the soldier’s dream of the perfect woman.

Kirchner lived only to the age of 41, but managed to illustrate more than 1000 postcards of which at least 40,000 were printed. .
