Swedish model and former Miss Sweden Gunilla Knutson played a
decisive role in 1966 when she appeared in a commercial for shaving
foam on television. To the strains of David Rose’s pop hit
”The Stripper”, she encouraged men to ”take
it all off” in a way that confused the boundaries between
clothing and shaving foam for the listener. The commercial achieved
a great deal of attention but heralded a new era for sex in advertising.
